TUS Engineering Showcase 2025: TLM Laser to Launch Alpha Laser ALV 150 F

A Day of Innovation, Talent and Technology at TUS Limerick
TLM Laser is proud to be taking part in the upcoming TUS Engineering Showcase 2025, hosted at the university’s new Coonagh Campus in Limerick. This event has become a key date in the Irish engineering calendar, bringing together future graduates, academic leaders, and professionals from across the manufacturing and technology sectors. It is designed to highlight the achievements of the university’s final-year students while creating opportunities for industry figures to connect with the next generation of Irish engineers.
This year’s showcase is particularly exciting for us at TLM Laser, as we will be officially unveiling the Alpha Laser ALV 150 F system — a state-of-the-art, enclosed laser welding solution that is now being installed at TUS. This new partnership will enable students to train directly on industrial-grade equipment while giving manufacturers across Ireland the opportunity to see the technology first-hand in a working academic environment.
Introducing the ALV 150 F: A New Era of Laser Welding Access
The Alpha Laser ALV 150 F is a compact, high-precision laser welding system designed to meet the strict requirements of tool and die repair, medical device manufacturing, and advanced metal joining applications. This is the first time the ALV system will be introduced into an Irish university, marking a milestone for both engineering education and local industry access to advanced laser technologies.
As part of our launch at the showcase, TLM Laser will present a full introduction to the system and run live demonstrations throughout the morning. This is an ideal opportunity for manufacturers who are considering the move to in-house laser welding or looking to explore the Alpha Laser brand. Our team will be on-hand to answer technical questions and help visitors assess whether the ALV 150 F is a fit for their business.
Meet Ireland’s Future Engineers
Beyond the ALV launch, the TUS Engineering Showcase offers a valuable platform to engage with Ireland’s next wave of engineering talent. Students will be presenting their final-year projects and dissertations, offering insights into the technical skills and applied research emerging from the university’s programmes. It’s a chance for employers, suppliers and engineers to see student innovation up close and build early connections with potential future collaborators or recruits.
Student Project Highlights
Visitors to the event will have the opportunity to view a broad range of final-year projects, with work on display representing a wide range of engineering disciplines and industry-relevant technologies, including:
- 3D Solidworks and CAD design
- 3D printing applications
- Demonstration test rigs and physical prototyping
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) studies
- CNC machined components and assemblies
- Facilities and HVAC system analysis
- Process improvement projects
- Sustainability and energy efficiency research
This is not only a celebration of student achievement but a practical opportunity for companies to engage with young talent already working on industry-relevant challenges.
Running Order for the Day
The day’s activities will follow a focused, professional structure designed to maximise both insight and interaction:
- 10:00 am – 11:00 am: Opening presentation and live launch of the Alpha Laser ALV 150 F by TLM Laser
- 11:00 am – 12:30 pm: Student project showcase and networking session
- 12:30 pm – 13:00 pm: Awards ceremony recognising outstanding student work
